मुख्यमंत्री ग्रामीण पेयजल योजना 2016 में शुरू की गई थी ताकि यह सुनिश्चित किया जा सके कि बिहार के प्रत्येक ग्रामीण घर में पाइप आपूर्ति प्रणाली के माध्यम से सुरक्षित पेयजल उपलब्ध हो। इस योजना को ग्राम पंचायतों द्वारा चरणों में लागू किया जाता है, जिसमें 5,013 पंचायतें शामिल हैं, जहां पानी की गुणवत्ता से कोई समझौता नहीं किया गया है या पहले से ही सार्वजनिक स्वास्थ्य इंजीनियरिंग विभाग द्वारा नियंत्रित नहीं किया जा रहा है। जल आपूर्ति का लक्ष्य संचालन और रखरखाव में मजबूत सामुदायिक भागीदारी के साथ प्रति व्यक्ति अधिकतम 70 लीटर प्रति दिन है।
