गोवा सरकार के सूचना और प्रचार विभाग द्वारा 2010 में शुरू की गई योजना 'पत्रकार कृतज्ञानता निधि योजना' (पत्रकार परोपकारी निधि) का उद्देश्य चिकित्सा उपचार, विवाह खर्च, अंतिम संस्कार की लागत और स्व-रोजगार उद्यम जैसी विभिन्न आपात स्थितियों के लिए जरूरतमंद पत्रकारों को तत्काल वित्तीय सहायता प्रदान करना है। यह योजना प्रति मामले ₹ 2,00,000 तक की वित्तीय सहायता और पत्रकारों और बच्चों के लिए छात्रवृत्ति जैसे लाभ प्रदान करती है। योग्य आवेदक कम से कम तीन साल तक गोवा में पैदा हुए या काम कर रहे पत्रकार होने चाहिए और सूचना और प्रचार विभाग के साथ पंजीकृत होने चाहिए। इस योजना को गोवा सरकार द्वारा गठित एक उप-समिति द्वारा लागू किया जाता है, जिसमें गोवा यूनियन ऑफ जर्नलिस्ट्स और गोवा एडिटर्स गिल्ड के प्रतिनिधि शामिल हैं।
