What is Solar Based Hydroponic System?

The system aims to develop and promote an innovative solar-based hydroponic system that integrates solar energy with modern greenhouse technology and mobile application support.

Benefit
A solar-based hydroponic system has been installed at UCOST Dehradun. The solar-based hydroponic system is the latest research in the state, in which an innovative and integrated solar greenhouse-based hydroponic solution and an Android mobile application have been developed for farmers and consumers. Benefit: The automated solar-based hydroponic system will reduce energy consumption, minimize water usage, and enhance crop yields. The system also has the potential to serve as an entrepreneurial or business model and can be replicated in other Himalayan states, thereby creating improved livelihood opportunities for hill farmers and youth. Smaller off-grid models of solar-based hydroponic systems, proposed to be developed in addition to on-grid systems, can be installed in remote areas where electricity supply is a major issue. This would help increase the individual income of hill farmers. <br>
