The system also has the potential to serve as an entrepreneurial or business model and can be replicated in other Himalayan states, thereby creating improved livelihood opportunities for hill farmers and youth.
Smaller off-grid models of solar-based hydroponic systems, proposed to be developed in addition to on-grid systems, can be installed in remote areas where electricity supply is a major issue. This would help increase the individual income of hill farmers.
