शून्य टिकट बस यात्रा योजना। समाज कल्याण और महिला सशक्तिकरण विभाग के तहत तमिलनाडु सरकार ने एक योजना की घोषणा की जिसके तहत महिला यात्री राज्य के शहरों और कस्बों में सरकार द्वारा संचालित सामान्य किराए की बसों (30 किलोमीटर तक की छोटी दूरी के लिए) में बिना किसी किराए के यात्रा कर सकती हैं। इन बसों में यात्रा करने पर महिलाओं को शून्य टिकट (एक किराया रहित टिकट) जारी किया जाता है। शून्य-टिकट यात्रा योजना (जेडटीबीटी) का उपयोग करने वाली महिला यात्रियों में से लगभग 52 प्रतिशत 40 वर्ष से कम आयु की हैं। तथ्य यह है कि 48 प्रतिशत से अधिक महिला उपयोगकर्ता 40 वर्ष से अधिक आयु की हैं, यह इंगित करता है कि इस योजना से वृद्ध महिलाओं को कितना लाभ होता है। जिलों में इन अनुपातों में कोई बड़ा अंतर नहीं है। जेड. टी. बी. टी. योजना के उपयोगकर्ता वे हैं जिनकी शैक्षणिक योग्यता पाँचवीं कक्षा (5 साल की स्कूली शिक्षा) से कम है। उनमें लगभग 44 प्रतिशत नमूना उपयोगकर्ता शामिल हैं
